BMS Trainee / Apprentice Engineer

As a Trainee BMS Engineer at Sirus, you will be involved in software engineering, commissioning, service works and testing of BMS systems.

Job Description

This role will be primarily site-based, with opportunities to progress to office-based design and engineering activities should the successful candidate display an aptitude and desire to do so. The BMS Trainee / Apprentice Project Engineer will work as part of a team of engineers in a support capacity delivering exciting projects to national and multinational clients. It requires diligence, attention to detail, good communication skills, strong HVAC, electrical and instrumentation knowledge, and the ability to work as part of a team.


Key Areas of Development

  • To understand control panel design, manufacture and testing.
  • To assist within commissioning including hot loop checks and site acceptance testing.
  • To assist in carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
  • To assist and develop skills in fault finding & rectify plant issues.
  • To understand Building Management System (BMS).
  • To understand how the BMS interacts with the plant & equipment.
  • To successfully complete Day Release to HNC Level Qualification.


Key Skills

  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent.
  • Completed a minimum of 2 years in a formal apprenticeship or training scheme in an engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of BMS electrical and instrumentation systems (Desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent HVAC knowledge (Desirable but not essential).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Commitment to continuous personal improvement.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • A full clean driving licence (or working towards one) is essential.


Training & Personal Growth

  • GAMP & GDP (Good Documentation Practice) Training will be provided.
  • Sauter BMS product training will be provided, as necessary.
  • Siemens BMS product training will be provided.
  • Company sponsorship of relevant training (all business/company relevant courses in a related discipline are encouraged).

Remuneration & Conditions

  • Laptop, Mobile Phone and Company Van.
  • Overtime is not paid, except under special circumstances (if extended working hours are required for onsite commissioning or when working away from home).
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Annual Bonus paid at Christmas based on performance and effort throughout the year.
